Substitute Vincenzo Iaquinta gave Italy a late 2-0 lead in their opening match against Group E rivals Ghana in Hannover. Andrea Pirlo's 39th minute strike, a right-footed shot from outside the box, had given Italy a 1-0 half-time advantage.
